Arthur N. Dunning, Ph.D., was named president of Albany State University in November 2015 by University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby. Much of his 27-year career was devoted to serving in various key leadership roles within the University System of Georgia.

Investiture is defined as the “formal ceremony of conferring the authority and symbols of high office.” It is an academic ceremony which has symbolized the pursuit of knowledge since the Middle Ages. Today, universities view investitures as an opportunity to welcome a new era and celebrate as a community.
