Arthur Dunning, PhDThe Investiture of Arthur N. Dunning, Ph.D. as the Ninth President of Albany State University will take place Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Albany Municipal Auditorium in Downtown Albany, Georgia at 2:00 p.m.

The Program will honor the traditions and ceremonies of higher education, beginning with an academic processional. An investiture is a ceremony in which the leader of an institution is vested with the garments, insignia or ornaments signifying the authority of the office. The ceremony has its roots in both religious and secular proceedings as far back as the feudal era. At Albany State University, the vestment is a mace and breastplate, which will be placed on the President by the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia.

The singing of the alma mater by a current Albany State University student will conclude the ceremony.
